LabMGF at EC³ 2025 Porto

Presenting research perspectives on BIM-based methodologies and digital transformation for bridge data management in the construction sector.

The 2025 European Conference on Computing in Construction (EC³) took place in Porto, Portugal, from July 14 to 17, bringing together researchers and professionals interested in digital technologies, data-driven methods and innovation in the construction sector. Co-located with the CIB W78 Conference and the Linked Data in Architecture and Construction Workshop, EC³ provided a comprehensive forum on computing in construction at both research and practice levels.

During the conference, our member team Rebecca Fascia presented a poster entitled The use of BIM for Bridge Data Management in the Italian scene: A review with a practical perspective,” developed in collaboration with prof. Carlo De Gaetani. The work reviewed international Bridge Management Systems with a focus on Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM), highlighting the current Italian context and outlining a practical methodological framework for future applications.

Participation in EC³ 2025 offered the opportunity to exchange ideas with an international audience and to discuss challenges related to digital transformation in infrastructure management. The conference contributed to strengthening LabMGF’s research network and to advancing reflections on BIM-based approaches for bridge data management
