Showcasing research and digital innovation aimed at improving bridge inspection, maintenance and safety through advanced 3D visualisation tools.
From 24 to 28 June 2024, LabMGF took part in the 12th International Conference on Bridge Maintenance, Safety and Management (IABMAS 2024), held at the Tivoli Hotel and Congress Center in Copenhagen. The conference brought together researchers, bridge owners, engineers and practitioners to discuss current challenges and future perspectives in bridge management, with particular attention to sustainability, digitalisation and lifecycle planning of existing infrastructures.

During the conference, our PhD student Rebecca Fascia participated as a presenter, showcasing the work of the LabMGF research group entitled “PONTI: an open WebGL-based tool to support failure analysis and 3D visualisation of bridges”. The contribution introduced PONTI, an open and web-based tool designed to support bridge inspection and maintenance through interactive 3D visualisation and defect analysis, with the aim of improving decision-making processes and safety measures.

The conference provided a valuable opportunity for scientific exchange, allowing Rebecca to engage in discussions with international experts and to gather insights on emerging trends in bridge management systems. Participation in IABMAS 2024 further strengthened LabMGF’s involvement in the international research community focused on resilient and digitally supported infrastructure management.
